How to Prepare for your Studio Maternity Session

What should you bring?

I have a million dresses, but you will need the right undergarments. I prefer you bring a variety. nude underwear is best, preferably a thong if you want to wear sheer dresses or do some almost nude images. A strapless bra is best, but you could get away with tucking your straps if you don't own a strapless. I love the sticky bras and find they do an amazing job of allowing you to wear many types of dresses. You may choose to bring an over sized dress shirt from your spouse or a sexy bra and underwear that make you feel beautiful. It is also completely okay to do maternity photos in some of my more conservative dresses., but you should still bring lots of options for undergarments just in case.

What about my partner and children?

Bring them! I have dresses for moms and dresses for little girls. Dads should bring solid colored shirts both in a light color and a dark color. Having options is a smart idea. Bring a few shirts! Please make sure they are free of wrinkles and fit nicely. I will do some photos incorporating whoever you bring, and I also love it when partners help with train tosses and making sure mama is comfortable getting into her dresses. Spouses are a wonderful resource at a maternity session!

Do you have a hair and makeup stylist that you recommend?

Yes! While some moms opt for doing their own hair and makeup, many prefer to get dolled up by an expert! My stylist is amazing! She will make you look your very best for your studio maternity photos. It really does make a big difference having beautifully done makeup and hair. Please let me know if you would like me to check for her availability.

What if I want both in studio and outdoor images?

There's a package for that! Many of my clients really want the best of both worlds. Both outdoor and in studio sessions can be stunning. There are several beautiful parks very near my Cambrian San Jose studio. Please let me know if you would like to book one of these combo sessions.
